October 11, 2004
Since their reintroduction in March 2004, sales of mobile phones with MP3 function totaled 1.15 million units for the seven months between March and September 2004, according to operator figures. SKT accounted for 600,000 units, KTF for 300,000 units, and LGT comprised 250,000 units. Sales have been given a significant boost since SKT and KTF dropped the 72-hour limit on downloaded content.

Both SKT and KTF are currently offering 10 models, while LGT is selling four MP3 handsets. SKT has stated that by the end of 2004, of the 30 mobile phones the operator will be offering, 17 will be MP3 models. KTF maintained a target of 10 models for 2004, yet indicated that in 2005 MP3 phones would account for at least 30% of the company's total handset offerings.
